Activities

1,Support the study and research of wild orangutans:

We are engaged in promoting academic fundamental research on the behavior, ecology, and habitats of wild orangutans in
Borneo Island and Sumatra Island. Our current main project is about supporting the research of wild orangutans in Danum
Valley Conservation Area, Sabah, Malaysia.

2,Support the study on breeding in zoos:

Even orangutans in zoos may die out in the near future if they do not breed.
We are initiating a structure in which zookeepers are able to share knowledge and interact with each other.
We are also backing up their breeding research as well as returning the research outcomes back to zoos.

3,Report the situation of wild orangutans to help conserve them:

Although it is well known globally that orangutans are facing the threat of extinction, the fact is not commonly known in
Japan.
Thus, we offer information while taking actions to provide insights into the circumstances orangutans are facing.
Our research results are contributing to the conservation in the habitats.
